Christian Benden, Switzerland

Christian Benden (MD MBA FCCP) is a Pediatric Pulmonologist and former Medical Director of Lung Transplantation, CF Center Director and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Transplantation Center of the University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland. Since 2018, he is Adjunct Professor of Pneumology and Transplant Medicine at the University of Zurich. 

In 2020, Christian Benden was Senior Medical Consultant and Executive Board Member at the Swiss National Foundation for Organ Donation and Transplantation, Berne, Switzerland.

He was appointed Lecturer in Health Management (MBA) at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business and Design, Wismar, Germany, in 2020.

Christian Benden served as Secretary of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee Member of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, Scientific Program Chair, and Associate Medical Director of the Thoracic Transplant Registry. He is IPTA Education Committee Past Chair. From 2016 to 2019, he was Group Chair Transplantation of the European Respiratory Society.

Christian Benden is Associate Editor of Clinical Transplantation and Editorial Board Member of Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. 

His clinical research interests include pediatric lung transplantation, chronic lung allograft dysfunction, and advanced cystic fibrosis lung disease.
