Marc Abramowicz MD PhD is a clinical and molecular geneticist who moved from Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium, to Geneva UNIGE and HUG in early 2018. Beyond his recognized expertise in clinical syndromology and molecular genetics, he has a proven track record in gene identification and characterization, initially in the field of molecular endocrinology and later in brain developmental disorders. His research has been funded over 20 years without discontinuation by competitive grants, including the Belgian FNRS and European ERA-Net. His group has produced seminal discoveries in the field of inherited disorders of the thyroid and in the field of primary microcephaly. Some years ago Marc teamed up with brother Daniel Abramowicz MD PhD, a nephrologist whose main expertise is renal transplantation. This association has recently produced the first GWAS in renal graft rejection, followed by the first exome-wide study of clinical tolerance in kidney allograft recipients.
